Join the Canadian Footbag Alliance!
As a
footbag player, you need to know that
your sport is going somewhere and you
want to be proud of what it has to offer
in all respects. At the
Canadian Footbag Alliance, our goal
is to give Footbag and its athletes,
more legitimacy and recognition in the
eyes of the public, government,
international sport bodies, and
corporate sponsors. Our first step
is to actively recruit players and build
a solid membership base. As the
numbers increase, so do our chances to
secure support from sponsors,
government, etc. As the saying
goes, “there’s strength in numbers”.
Since our inception, the CFA has
done many things to bolster the forward
progression of Footbag.
Everything
from providing top quality footbags &
training to promoting at tradeshows &
other events. From teaching
footbag in schools to organizing &
sponsoring tournaments.
Much of this
has been done out of love for the sport
and with very limited financial
resources.
Therefore,
we’ve introduced this membership to help
build and further develop the sport of
Footbag in Canada.
Of course, you can
subscribe to our newsletter for free and
receive everything listed above.
That's fine, we hope you enjoy it. But,
Footbag needs more than that
to progress and become a more viable
sport. It not only needs
interested and involved players, but
also funding. For things like:
- Player & League Development
- Tournament Administration &
Sanctioning
- Training & Coaching Programs
- Education & Recruitment Programs
- Public Relations & Media Promotions
- Equipment & Cross Sport Partnering
After all, only so much can be done out
of love for the sport. Without funding
for such things we face the vicious
cycle of attracting new players only to
see them walk away because they don't
see enough incentive within the sport to
make them stay.

For now, membership is
limited to individual players, but will
soon be available to clubs and
provincial associations also.
We’ll put your money to
good use
To show our commitment towards this
initiative, the CFA will put
three dollars from your membership fee
directly towards the development of the
sport of Footbag in Canada. For
example, some of it will be used to help
buy equipment needed to run tournaments
or cover administrative costs involved.
In addition, another dollar will be
donated to the International Footbag
Players Association (IFPA)
to help further their goals for the
sport. The last dollar goes
towards administering your membership.
